Let’s face it…hair removal is sometimes an uncomfortable experience. However, there are many things that you can do to improve your next sugaring/waxing appointment.
The first thing that you need to keep in mind is that your 1st appointment will be your most uncomfortable. It continues to improve each time you sugar/wax because less hair grows back and the hair follicles are not as strong as they were initially. The length of the hair needs to be 1/4 inch. If you sugar, it can be as short as 1/16 inch. If your hair is longer or shorter than that = more pain. The next thing to keep in mind is coming back for your next sugar/wax in the proper time frame that your esthetician tells you to. Typically every 3 to 4 weeks. Finally, you need to exfoliate your skin prior to coming in for your sugar/wax. You can use a scrub, exfoliating gloves, or a chemical exfoliant, like PFB. We offer PFB at the spa for purchase. Exfoliating prior to sugaring/waxing helps remove dead skin cells around the hair follicle, providing an easier exit.
Other things to keep in mind is that smoking, regular caffeine, and alcohol create a lot of acid in the body. If you reduce acidity, you reduce skin sensitivity. It is recommended to be well hydrated and well rested on the day of your appointment. If all else fails, you can always take tylenol or apply a numbing cream 30 mins prior to your sugar/wax. We also have numbing cream available either for purchase or you can schedule to arrive 20 mins prior to your appointment and apply the cream at the spa. If you follow these guidelines for sugaring waxing, you will be amazed at how effortlessly your next appointment will be!
