Its very important for you as the client to stress the safety and importance of a sanitary pedicure not only for your health but also for ease of mind. There are many nail salons that offer a sanitary pedicure but it doesn’t always mean it true. There are a few key signs to check for while getting a pedicure.
Cleanliness, Sterilization/liners, and Atmosphere.
- Cleanliness: Very important in choosing a proper nail salon is to watch out for cleanliness and organization. A salon that is clean and organized is probably focused and geared towards client satisfaction and overall well being and a sanitary pedicure. This is very important to you as a client even if it means spending an extra buck, most times its well worth it for a sanitary pedicure.
- Sterilization: All implements and tools being used on you should be disinfected & sanitized (its the law), but as well as disinfected & sanitized one very important step is Sterilization. Not every spa provides you with sterilized implements. Look for implements that are sealed and packaged individually in an autoclave sterilization pouch. This is key to a sanitary pedicure.
- Pedicure liners: DON’T BE FOOLED by false advertisement. Many salons advertise the use of pedicure liners witch are very safe and offer a 100% guarantee of no cross contamination and allow for a sanitary pedicure. Sounds perfect, but its very important that you check for yourself. Look inside the pedicure bowl before dipping your feet, there should be a visible clear liner, if you don’t see it try to feel for it. If there is a pedicure liner then it should be obvious if looking for it. Be weary of these advertisement claims because they are FALSE and will not allow for a sanitary pedicure.
- Atmosphere: A great atmosphere calls for a great time and experience. Have a wonderful time relaxing and enjoying your service. There Is no need to feel uncomfortable or rushed, in what I call “In & Out Spa”. If you do some research you will find that there are many salons with the added bonus of a complimentary wine to go along with your sanitary pedicure. Relax and enjoy your pampering time.
