Gel polish has been an amazing invention for us women. There is nothing like it. It can endure more than what regular polish could even dream of, but it doesn’t come easy for gel polish. There are may advisories against gel application. One major reason is the exposure to U.V. light. There have been many segments aired on T.V. about the effects of U.V. light in gel lamps. Even the famous Dr. Oz aired the dangers, but of course with any exposure to U.V. light there are always dangers. Just like walking from your front door to your car, but its always good to “Eer on the side of caution”. So before you go to the nail salon call and ask if the lamp being used is a UV lamp, if so before your trip to the salon make sure to apply SPF liberally around hands and wrist. There are also anti UV lamps available for purchase online.
Now this might look like its turning into a “before salon” check list, but there is good news. Many salons now carry “LED” lamps which work faster and have no U.V. exposure. These lamps are preferable for you. I highly recommend you choose a nail salon that has the option to use “LED” not only do they take the UV out of the equation, but they are also a much faster option to getting a quick gel manicure on a time crunch.
At LUXE DAY SPA SOHO in South Tampa we put our clients at ease and use only “LED” lamps for your gel manicure.
